Maybe it was just my bad luck, but the original scooter that was first delivered had some real problems. The assembly instructions (both the hard copy that came with the scooter and the on-line tutorial) were not very clear. It took time to figure out how to do the assembly. Then, while attempting to attach the handlebar to the steering column, a piece of scrap metal inside one of the assembly points (which could not be removed) prevented the handlebar from being attached. Plus the screwdrivers provided by HiBoy did not fit all the hexagonal screws provided, so I had to buy a hexagonal screwdriver set to get some of the screws tightened. Especially missing were good instructions for pairing the scooter with my phone via Bluetooth - that took a while to figure out.The customer service was wonderful - they tried to walk me through all the assembly complications, but were ultimately unsuccessful. So they arranged for me to send the first scooter back and shipped me a new one. However, this second scooter also had some problems (albeit different ones). The lock mechanism which lets you remove the battery to recharge in the docking station had been broken off in transit. So they will be sending me a new lock. And in the process of loosening some of the screws on the steering column, to do the final adjustments on attaching the handlebar, one of the screw heads totally stripped it was in so tight. So now I have to find a handyman or tech with the proper tool to loosen that screw and replace it.The scooter is operational, and I've very much enjoyed riding it around town. I'm impressed with how far it can go on a single charge. I would highly recommend it for purchase - so long as you luck out and get one without factory defects. The one thing I would like to see added to the operating software. On my previous HiBoy scooter, on my phone via Bluetooth, I could actually make it non-operational, locking the wheels. Because I always turned off the operating system when not in use, this gave me great satisfaction when my scooter was stolen - the thief could not roll it away but had to carry it. It would be nice to have this feature on all HiBoy scooters.(Summary in the last paragraph) There is so much to say about this scooter... it's the only electric scooter I've used so I cannot properly compare it to anything else on the market. It sure looks cooler than the others I've seen people riding around though! I had a ton of fun riding my razor scooter back in the day and enjoy this too.I'm a large-frame dude - 6 feet tall, 220 pounds, with size 12 shoes. I feel a little oversized for the scooter, but I will not hold that against the manufacturer. It's designed for average sized people. The [non-adjustable] handlebars would be better suited for someone about 5'-9" tall, and the platform you stand on is meant for shoes no larger than size 12-13. My 260-lb coworker was able to ride it fine but we noticed it was slightly slower for him than when I ride. Speed 1 gets me to 10 MPH, speed 2 gets me to 17 MPH, and I don't ride on speed 3. Your results will vary depending on your weight. This scooter takes me to work and back several times before I need to recharge it and I would feel comfortable riding it for 20 miles on one charge if I needed to. Someone lighter than me would be able to go further and slightly faster. It has done all I expected of it, but there are some gripes. The roads in my neighborhood are not well-maintained and it rattles a ton as I ride. The lock mechanism that keeps the detachable battery in place became stuck, but customer support took care of me and sent a fresh lock assembly to replace it (3-day air from overseas? Nice!). The unfolding mechanism requires either finesse or muscle and it takes me a good 5 tries to unfold it sometimes. And as other reviewers have said, it's heavy and enormous. I wouldn't get this for a pre-teenage child due to its weight.Treat it as a "cheap" electric scooter that runs longer than any scooter in its tier and you likely won't be disappointed. It gets me where I need to go and hasn't fallen apart after 5 months of use, but I wouldn't expect it to last over 20 years like my original razor has. Good customer support! Overall 7.5/10.
